Kingdom hosts third anti-piracy meeting

The Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Border Guards will host the third regional committee meeting to coordinate annual training in the Djibouti Maritime Regional Center for countries that have signed the Djibouti Code of Conduct.
This code entails anti-armed robbery and marine piracy west of the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Oman.
The meeting will be held from Oct. 28 to 30 at the Border Guard Institute in Jeddah. Representatives from the International Maritime Organization and the European Union, in addition to nine other countries, will attend the event.
The Maritime Border Guard Institute in Jeddah hosted a workshop entitled Naval Operations’ Leaders that lasted four weeks and included 21 high command officers from 16 countries who had signed the Code of Conduct.
This meeting complements the Kingdom’s efforts to further cooperation in regional training to combat marine piracy and armed robbery.
